How to Live Sustainably with Tosha Larios
Hi, I’m Tosha Larios! Living sustainably means making choices that protect our planet, save resources, and create a healthier world for everyone. In this blog, I’ll share simple ways you can live more sustainably in your daily life. Together, let’s make small changes that add up to a big difference.
Why Living Sustainably Matters
When we choose sustainable living, we’re protecting the environment, reducing waste, and creating a future where everyone has access to clean air, water, and food. For me, Tosha Larios, sustainability is part of my everyday life, whether I’m farming at Star Track Farm, creating nutritious recipes for Food as Medicine, or breaking down smart money habits on Advanced Girl Math.
Simple Ways to Live Sustainably
1. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Start by using less and reusing what you can. Before buying something new, ask yourself if you could use something you already have or buy secondhand. Recycling helps keep waste out of landfills and saves energy. For more eco-friendly tips, check out my STEM blog.
2. Support Local and Organic Farms
Buying local produce helps reduce food miles (the distance food travels from farm to table) and supports small farmers. Organic farms, like Star Track Farm, avoid using harmful chemicals, keeping soil and water clean. Plus, organic foods are healthier and packed with nutrients.
3. Save Water
Water is one of our most precious resources. Here are a few ways to save water:
• Take shorter showers.
• Fix any leaks around the house.
• Use rainwater for your garden.
Even small changes make a big difference! Learn more about how I conserve water on my Star Track Farm blog.
4. Eat More Plant-Based Foods
Reducing meat consumption can help reduce greenhouse gases and lower your carbon footprint. Try incorporating plant-based meals into your weekly routine. Check out some delicious recipes on my Food as Medicine blog that are both healthy and eco-friendly.
5. Walk or Bike More
Walking or biking instead of driving helps reduce carbon emissions. It’s also a great way to exercise and explore your surroundings. When I, Tosha Larios, want to make sustainable choices for my health, I walk, bike, or take public transport whenever possible.
6. Choose Sustainable Products
Look for products made from recycled or eco-friendly materials. Many companies are committed to sustainability, creating products that have less impact on the environment. Whenever I shop, I always look for eco-friendly labels to make sure I’m supporting sustainable practices.
Why Small Changes Matter
Remember, living sustainably doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Every small change counts. Even something as simple as carrying a reusable water bottle can help reduce plastic waste. When enough people make these small changes, we can create a huge impact together.
