Tosha Larios Living Sustainably: A Simple Guide to a Better Life

Hi! I’m Tosha Larios, and today, I want to talk to you about living sustainably. You might hear this word a lot, but what does it actually mean? Living sustainably is all about making choices that are good for the planet, for others, and for yourself. It’s not as hard as it sounds – it’s about little things we can all do every day that add up to big changes.

In this blog, I’ll show you easy ways to live a sustainable lifestyle. Plus, I’ll share how I apply these principles in my own life at Star Track Farm, my sustainable farm. Let’s get started!

What Does Living Sustainably Mean?

Living sustainably means using less and wasting less. It’s about making choices that don’t harm the environment. For example, instead of buying lots of new clothes, you could buy second-hand clothes or take care of the ones you have. When you live sustainably, you think about how your actions affect the planet and the people around you.

I try to live sustainably in every part of my life, from how I farm at Star Track Farm to the food I eat and how I spend my money. By making small changes, you can make a big impact too!

How to Start Living Sustainably

You don’t have to change everything overnight to live more sustainably. Here are a few simple ways to start:

  1. Use Less Plastic: One of the easiest ways to live sustainably is by cutting down on plastic. You can do this by using reusable bags, water bottles, and containers. Every little bit helps!
  2. Save Energy: Turn off the lights when you leave a room, unplug devices when you’re not using them, and try to use less electricity. These simple habits not only help the environment, but they can also save you money!
  3. Eat Healthy, Sustainable Foods: A big part of living sustainably is eating in a way that’s good for you and the planet. At Food as Medicine, I talk a lot about the power of food. Eating locally grown, organic fruits and vegetables is a great way to support sustainable farming. You can even try growing your own food!
  4. Shop Smart: Buying less and buying better is key to living sustainably. Instead of buying lots of cheap items that don’t last, invest in quality products that are built to last. This saves money in the long run and reduces waste.
  5. Reuse and Recycle: Before throwing something away, think about if you can reuse or recycle it. Old clothes can be donated, and glass jars can be used for storage. The more we reuse, the less waste ends up in landfills.

Sustainable Living at Star Track Farm

At Star Track Farm, I live and breathe sustainability. Our farm focuses on organic methods that protect the environment. We use compost instead of chemical fertilizers, plant trees to reduce carbon, and grow food in a way that is good for both people and the planet.
